OutLoud’s mission is to amplify youth voice and value youth as changemakers, storytellers and artists. Through the intersection of storytelling projects, creative discovery, activism and restorative practices, OutLoud creates spaces that value youth as drivers of social change, promote wellbeing, and shift perspectives about the capabilities of young people.
OutLoud creates high quality, public art projects that give young people access to storytelling tools and a platform to speak and be heard. Through public art installations, interactive gallery exhibitions and films, youth emerge as changemakers, using their voices to tell stories that move people to action, and showing adults what youth are capable of when programming is driven by them, not for them.
In response to school closures and social distancing requirements caused by the COVID-19 crisis, OutLoud is providing new programming to respond to the social and emotional needs of young people during this time. OutLoud hosts a weekly ZOOM open mic for young people to perform music and poetry, an online ZINE project to provide youth with a platform to share visual art and writing, and remote storytelling workshops. During the workshops, youth engage in group ZOOM calls with OutLoud artists to collaborate on short films related to their experiences with the global pandemic, discuss personal challenges, and engage in creative games and exercises.
All of our programs are FREE and open to ages 14-22.
